How to use Image Compressor
- Drop your images onto the page or click to select them; you can add many at once.
- Choose Quality and set the slider, or choose Target size and enter the maximum size in KB.
- Optionally pick an output format (Original, JPG, WEBP or PNG) and a longest side in pixels, then click Compress.
- Check the before / after view, then download each image or click Download all as ZIP.
Supported formats
Accepts JPG, PNG, WEBP, GIF, BMP, AVIF, SVG, TIFF, HEIC, JPEG XL and PDF (first page). Saves as JPG, WEBP or PNG; “Original” keeps JPG, PNG and WEBP and turns other formats into JPG. Several images download as one ZIP.
Limits
There is no fixed file size limit; very large images are bounded by your device’s memory and the browser’s canvas size. PNG is lossless, so it only gets smaller when the pixel size is reduced.
Privacy
Everything runs in your browser: your files are never uploaded to a server, and there is no sign-up.
Frequently asked questions
Does compressing reduce image quality?
JPG and WEBP are re-encoded at the quality you choose; 60–80% is usually hard to tell apart from the original. Use the before / after slider to check, and the tool keeps the original file if compressing does not make it smaller.
Can I compress an image to under 100 KB?
Yes. Choose Target size and enter 100: the tool finds the highest quality that fits. If even the lowest quality is too big, it shrinks the image until it fits, or marks it “still above the target” if you turned resizing off.
Why does my PNG barely get smaller?
PNG is lossless, so the quality setting does not apply to it. Convert to WEBP or JPG, or set a smaller longest side, to save much more space.
Is EXIF data removed?
Yes. Images are redrawn before saving, so location, camera and other EXIF data are not kept in the compressed files.
Are my images uploaded to a server?
No. Compression runs in your browser and the files never leave your device.
