Supported formats
Input: PDF files. Output: a smaller PDF for each file (name.compressed.pdf); several results can be downloaded together as compressed-pdf.zip.
Limits
Password-protected PDFs must be unlocked first, and files that are mostly text or already compressed get only a little smaller (if a file can’t be made noticeably smaller, the tool tells you to keep the original). Some image types such as CMYK, JBIG2 and JPEG 2000 are left as they are, and digital signatures are no longer valid in the compressed copy.
Privacy
Everything runs in your browser: your files are never uploaded to a server, and there is no sign-up.
Frequently asked questions
Will compression reduce the quality?
Lossless does not change anything you can see. Light, Medium and Strong scale large images down (to at most 2500, 1800 or 1200 px) and save them as JPEG, so pictures lose some detail; text and drawings are not touched and stay sharp and selectable.
Which compression level should I choose?
Light is good for printing, Medium for reading on screen, and Strong gives the smallest files for e-mail and uploads. Check the result and keep the original.
Why did my PDF hardly get smaller?
PDFs that are mostly text, or whose images are already compressed or small, have little left to shrink. Images in formats such as CMYK, JBIG2 or JPEG 2000 are kept as they are.
Is it safe to compress PDFs online here?
Yes. Compression runs in your browser on your own device; the files are not uploaded or saved anywhere.
Can I compress several PDFs at once?
Yes. Add as many files as you like, compress them in one go, and download them one by one or as a single ZIP.
